The metro stations are all from the Seventies and feature some of the best Soviet architecture outside Russia. They don’t have ticket machines and still mostly use the original trains.
The central square is surround by big buildings including Hotel Uzbekistan which is an impressive hotel in original Soviet style. On the square itself was something happening with flags.. we decided to stay away from that.
After walking around the centre and enjoying the architecture for a bit, we got some lunch and headed to Independence Square to marvel at all the statues we can’t visit cause apparently they don’t want you to see it…
Time to slowly walk back to our hotel and admire the strange places in between.
We even came across a new but closed amusement park..
Time to relax for a bit before heading back into the city for some food.
Tomorrow we will do an other round trip through the city and discover more of this pretty cool city!
