The main square in the city is Ala Too Square, most iconic buildings, squares and parks surround this central square.
Close to this square there is also a 'typical' amusement park for the people (as seen in many communist/socialist countries). We took some photos from the ferris wheel and of course rode the rollercoaster..
At the back of the Ala Too Square, behind the National History Musem, there is still a Lenin statue (ironically pointing to the building housing parlement) from back when the country was part of the Soviet Union.
It used to be on the main square (then called Lenin Square) itself instead of the horse below..
We also visited Victory Square featuring the Liberation Memorial for the Second World War when the country was occupied by Nazi Germany.
We also came across a UFO-looking building that houses a Circus(?)..
Time for some lunch and head to a park just outside the city centre..
The park looked beautiful on Google Images but is now pretty rundown and the swimming ponds are drained empty..
Time to head to the airport and Tashkent in Uzbekistan!
The taxi driver from the airport tried to scam us out of 200.000 Uzbekistani som when the journey should cost just 7000. With some help of the hotel clerc we got him to run away without any money. After having to pay the hotel itself with cash (600.000) we needed money and got 'rich' in Uzbekistani money..
Tomorrow we get up early and fly to Urgench/Khiva and start our Slik Road Adventure!
