Day 5

My final day in London with me leaving by Eurostar train to Amsterdam. Lianne stays in England for a few more conference days. Today I headed out early by train to London Bridge to visit the Shard. This striking skyscraper features a beautiful view across London.

Sadly the Picasso Exposition at the Tate Modern was pretty expensive at least for my liking so I checked out the other galleries featuring Andy Warhol and Mondriaan.

After visiting the Tate Modern I grabbed a delicous lunch and took the tube to Westminster Abbey.

Sadly taking photos is forbidden inside the Abbey but I managed to take some anyway. Although I was caught several times I still got some of the shots I wanted.

Close to the tomb of Isaac Newton and Charles Darwin lies the recently deceased theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking. A beautiful place with the inscription "Her Lies What was Mortal of Stephen Hawking" and his equation describing the entropy of a black hole.

Time to head to St. Pancras to take the highspeed train back to Amsterdam. Of course not before visiting Kings Cross with it's Harry Potter statue and it's gorgeous architecture.

Visiting London with Lianne was amazing and the city itself remains one of the most beautiful cities in the world. We had such luck with the weather and coupled with a nice hotel the weekend was great. Till next time London!
