37°Today, we visited Chiapa de Corzo, a small colonial town like many, but also the entry point into the Sumidero Canyon.
We arrived early and were lucky to catch the boat that was just about the leave as the next boats only left when we returned two hours later.
The high cliffs of the canyon were beautifully lighted by the morning sun.
We spotted crocodiles, many birds and even two monkeys, but unfortunately even more plastic bottles.
After the boat tour, we started our long descent out of the Chiapas mountains towards Villahermosa along the same roads as we arrived.
The first thing we noticed when we arrived at our hotel in chaotic Villahermosa was the extreme heat. We jumped straight into the pool after which we had BBQ dinner at a nearby permanent food truck festival.
We have a busy day ahead tomorrow as the drive to the port city Campeche, our next stop, is about 400 km.
